SUMMER DAY CAMPS….Spend outstanding camps with YDE as we experience the best dance has to offer! Students will explore various dance disciplines featuring outstanding teachers. Our ballet intensive is focused to the serious ballet dancer.

TUTUS & TWIRLS

TUITION: $75.00

This workshop is designed for preschool dancers looking for a really fun summer activity. We'll dance in the River Ridge gardens, dance to fun music, and use costumes for all the dances we perform. Each session will explore different themes. Dancers are invited to participate in the Garden Concert at the end of the summer.

JAZZ PIZAZZ

9:300AM - 2:00PM, MON–WED

Ages 5-8

June 28-30 and/or July 26-28

 

TUITION: $135.00

This camp is an awesome chance to learn about jazz and hip hop dance. We will learn different jazz styles and how to make up your own dances. We will learn how to put on a show including make-up and costuming. Dancers will have an opportunity to show what they learned during the Garden Concert at the end of summer session. Space is limited.

BALLET INTENSIVE

9:00AM - 2:00PM, MON-FRI

Ages 12 & up/instructor approval required

TUITION: $225.00

For serious ballet students (level III and up) who desire to improve technical skills and work with outstanding instructors. Daily class, choreography, partnering and dance related lectures will be included during this time. Individual attention to improve technique is a primary focus in this program. Classical attire is required for the intensive. Minimum class size 8.

POINTE PREPARATION

9:00AM - 3:30PM, MON-WED

12 years of age by 9/1/09

JUNE 21-23

 

TUITION: $175.00

This workshop is designed for students to will progress to pointe work during the 2009/2010 school year. Ballet technique, basic pointe/foot strengthening exercises and proper foot care will be included. Classical attire required. Students must attend ballet technique classes 2X/week to participate in this workshop.

BALLET TOUR

TUITION: $255.00

Join us as we study at professional schools throughout the metro area and outstate. Focus is on individual attention from leading ballet masters in the Twin Cities. Each day students will participate in daily class and learn choreography from famous ballets. Dancers will show a work in the Garden Concert at the end of the summer.

Under the direction of Jennifer Glaws, this week long intensive will include contemporary and jazz technique in addition to the creation of completed dance work. You will have an opportunity to perform the movement generated at a concert in the Twin Cities in late July/early August and at the annual Garden Concert.

Join guest artist Aylssa Brecke for a 3-day jazz intensive. Students will work on skill/trick development, endurance exercises, and study a wide genre of jazz technique. Each level will be taught choreography that may be used in future concerts. A not to be missed workshop for all serious jazz dancers!.

Class Schedule

Summer Class Descriptions 2010

BALLET I: (recommended ages 10 and up): For students with little or no previous ballet training. This class will develop basic skills and placement of ballet. Center work will include adagio and movement across the floor.

BALLET II/III: (recommended ages 10-13): For students with at least two years of ballet training. Primary focus is barre/center work, increased flexibility, foot strengthening/development, and upper body grace. Pointe and prepointe technique will be included in this class. Participation in pointe technique is by invitation only

BALLET IV: (recommended ages 13 and up): This class provides an intensity of barre and center to develop and challenge the dancer. Advanced work in adagio and allegro movement are the primary focus. The basics of partnering are also scheduled for this class. Pointe technique will follow this class. Instructor permission is required to participate.

OPEN BALLET:(recommended ages 10-13): For students level II and above, this is the perfect class to work on your ballet technique. Dancers will work at their level under the watchful eyes of our instructors.

BEGINNING JAZZ:(recommended ages 8-10): Come join the fun as we explore jazz dance in its forms. Dancers will learn basic technique, turns and leaps, and movements across the floor. Students in this class will perform in the garden concert at the end of summer session.

JAZZ II:(recommended ages 8-12): For students who have had less than two years of jazz training. Fun exercises with awesome music will help introduce students to a variety of jazz styles.

JAZZ III:(recommended ages 11-13): Focus of this class will be placement, turns, leaps, and jazz technique. Enrollment in ballet is required for placement into this class.

ADVANCED JAZZ:(recommended ages 13 and up): New techniques, challenging combinations, ultra stretches and the latest trends will be covered in this class. A perfect class for drop in as new combinations will be studied each week. It is recommended that you be enrolled in additional dance classes in order to take this class-at least one ballet classes is recommended. New students must have instructor’s permission to attend this class.

TAP:(recommended ages 11 and up): For students with previous tap experience. We will work with new techniques and build on current skills. This is a perfect class for those who love to explore rhythms.

CREATIVE MOVEMENT:(recommended ages 3-5): Join us every week for an hour of FUN! We will explore movement in a whole new way using props, images, and wonderful music! We will challenge your child’s creativity while learning basic locomotion movements, rhythms, and patterns. Pink ballet and tan tap shoes are required for this class. Students in this class will perform in the garden concert at the end of summer session.

BASIC SKILLS/COMBO DANCE I:(recommended ages 6-9): For new and current students who love to dance. We will learn the foundations of ballet technique, basic tap skills and stage movement. This is the perfect class for those who need to brush up their skills for fall placement.

BASIC SKILLS/COMBO DANCE II:(recommended ages 9-12): For new and current students who have had at least one year of previous training and love to dance. We will increase our study of ballet technique, and stretch our technique in tap skills and stage movement. Students in this class will perform in the garden concert at the end of summer session.

BASIC SKILLS - OPEN:(recommended ages 9-16): Love to dance? Don't mind a class for all ages? Need to sharpen your technique? Then this class is for you! Each week we will cover the basics of ballet, jazz, and tap. Focus is on individual attention for technique and strength.

FEES - We offer two payment options for classes

OPTION I- Our traditional plan is based on a 6 week payment plan. Since our summer program is 7 weeks in length, attend all classes and get a week worth of class for free!
